If you bought something from Home Depot and it didn’t come with a receipt, you can still return it. The return policy varies for different categories, but you can generally return most items without a receipt. For example, Home Depot will accept used paint brushes for a refund if they were used for a short time and then properly cleaned. This is not true of custom-tinted paint marked “Oops” though.
If you have a valid photo ID and original payment method, you can still return an item at Home Depot without a receipt. A Home Depot associate can look up your purchase details and issue you a store credit if they can verify that you bought the item at their store. However, if you are unable to produce a receipt, you will only be able to get store credit for the amount you paid for the item, unless the item is faulty.
If you’re not satisfied with your purchase, you can return it for a refund or exchange within 180 days of purchase. In most cases, you can return an item for a refund if it’s new, unopened, and in its original packaging. If you’ve purchased it through a credit card, you’ll also be able to get a refund within 90 days.
